Why is this free? - Why aren't more things free? Free is good, right?

We understand sometimes people want to run things themselves, such as DNS. However they don't want to manage or pay for the dedicated servers it takes to run a DNS network, which is why EditDNS was born.

free.editdns.net provides a way to manage your DNS, via a web browser for free for non-commercial use.

So what's the catch?

There's always a catch, sorry. We have restrictions put into place on our free product, they are:

- You can have up to 5 domains, they must be using our nameservers (you cannot mask our nameservers)
- Support is not provided, we have a community-based help forum that you can ask for help.
- There's no fancy features such as url forwarding, email forwarding, spam filtering, etc. It's plain vanilla DNS.
- We have two nameservers, a primary and secondary.
- There's only primary DNS provided, backup DNS or secondary DNS is not available.
- There's no SLA provided, we cannot guarantee uptime (but don't expect any either).
